A major international bank required a fully managed Data Centre migration from their existing provider within the same Data Centre facility.
The solution needed to provide full copper and fibre interconnectivity across 14 racks, plus OS2 links to the Meet-Me Rooms for third party carriers.
As part of the same project we delivered a fully managed, end-to-end Data Centre migration into the new racks, relocating 132 devices from their existing racks to the newly provisioned racks in another data hall. The IT Relocation phase was completed in a single migration window over a weekend.
SCOPE OF WORK
Data Centre Relocation incl. Strcutured Cabling
- Full end-to-end hardware and connectivity audit, capturing all asset, rack and cabling information incl. labelling
- Infrastructure design with the client’s network team to confirm migrating device quantities and finalise the rack plan and patching schedule
- We designed and installed a complete Leviton HDX & UHDX structured cabling solution comprising 580 Cat 6A shielded copper links presented on 24-port panels, OM4 fibre interconnects between racks, and OS2 fibre links from the network racks to the MMRs and third party carriers
- All cabling was routed via basket tray for copper and dedicated fibre runner for fibre, with vertical cable management installed within each rack. All panels were rear-mounted and laser-etched with colour-coded labelling. The completed structured cabling installation was fully tested and handed over with manufacturer warranty certification
- Pre-cabling in the delivery racks ahead of the migration weekend to support a more efficient migration and complete the Data Centre Migration within the clients downtime window
- Internal IT Relocation of 132 x devices incl. equipment de/re racking and specialist packing using flight cases and anti-static packaging
- Cable connect & dress incl. reinstallation of specialist PRO cables that moved with the equipment
- Senior engineer support was provided through power-up and handover on the Sunday
