Project Overview
A $12B AUM Investment Company engaged Joyce Solutions to support the consolidation of their Data Centre footprint, relocating critical infrastructure from Equinix LD7 to Equinix LD6 as part of a wider cost and space optimisation initiative.
The project involved the migration of approximately 120 production devices across six racks, alongside the installation of a fully pre-patched infrastructure comprising 555 Cat 6A, OM4 and MPO fibre connections.
The Challenge
Unlike many migration projects, the existing environment had no structured cabling standards or comprehensive documentation. Long-line connections had accumulated over time, making accurate connectivity auditing and migration planning critical to project success.
Every device, cable and connection required physical validation against the client’s own records to ensure the migration design accurately reflected the live production environment.
Our Solution
Joyce Solutions completed a comprehensive hardware and connectivity audit, tracing and validating all long-line cabling and updating infrastructure records throughout the process.
Working alongside the client, we developed detailed rack layouts, migration schedules and connectivity plans before installing a fully pre-patched destination environment. This included pre-cabling proprietary equipment connections, structured copper and fibre links, and all associated infrastructure required to support a seamless migration.
The migration was completed using our proven methodology, allowing equipment to be relocated, connected and validated efficiently within the agreed outage window.
Results
• 120 production devices migrated successfully
• 555 structured cabling connections installed and validated
• Six racks consolidated into a more efficient Data Centre footprint
• Complete infrastructure documentation and capacity records produced
• Migration completed without major service-impacting issues
Client Benefits
The project delivered significant reductions in Data Centre space utilisation while improving infrastructure documentation, capacity visibility and operational control.
Following the success of the project, ExodusPoint expanded its engagement with Joyce Solutions through additional project work and ongoing FlexSupport services, with our infrastructure documentation and capacity management processes continuing to support future growth and change.
