Project Overview
A large IT Services company required the relocation of critical infrastructure from its Data Centre facility in Hemel Hempstead to a new environment in Slough.
The project involved the migration of approximately 60 production devices into a highly populated three-rack environment, requiring careful planning to maximise available rack space while maintaining operational continuity.
The Challenge
The destination environment provided limited available rack space, making equipment placement, cable routing and power management critical to the success of the migration.
To minimise risk and reduce downtime, the new environment needed to be fully prepared and validated before any production equipment was moved.
Our Solution
Joyce Solutions worked closely with the client’s technical teams to complete a detailed audit and migration assessment before developing a phased migration plan.
The destination racks were fully pre-cabled and prepared ahead of the migration window, allowing equipment to be relocated, installed and connected efficiently during the move.
Our engineers provided hands-on support throughout the migration, working alongside the client’s own teams to ensure all systems were validated and operational before project completion.
Results
• Approximately 60 production devices relocated
• Three racks successfully commissioned and populated
• Full audit, migration planning and pre-cabling completed
• Migration delivered within agreed outage windows
• Successful validation and handover of all migrated infrastructure
Client Benefits
By combining audit, planning, pre-cabling and migration delivery within a single project, Joyce Solutions helped Sopra Steria reduce migration risk and complete the relocation with confidence and minimal disruption.
