Major migration of business- critical equipment
THE CHALLENGE
Oracle, one of the world’s largest computer technology corporations, wanted to consolidate its data infrastructure at its French office. One central communications room and eight satellite ‘labs’ were to be replaced with a single core data centre on the same site. This had to be conducted in a limited quarterly maintenance window, amid a highly complex software build, test and development environment.
OUR SOLUTION
JSC was contracted by server transport and IT relocation specialist Sunspeed to provide complex migration services and management for the Oracle project. We resolved a number of challenging issues, including a lack of labelling protocols and patching documentation, limited expertise and inadequate existing infrastructure in the planning stage. After pre-patching, JSC engineers remained on site for migration support, completing final power and data connections and cable dressing.
THE OUTCOMES
The project was completed successfully and is an excellent example of migrating business-critical equipment to a challenging timescale.
